BACOLOD CITY -- Newly-installed Negros Occidental Provincial Police (Noppo) Director Senior Supt. Manuel Felix vowed to serve well the people of Negros Occidental.
He succeeded former Provincial Police Director Rosendo Franco in a turnover rites held yesterday at the Noppo in the presence of Police Regional Office 6 director Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas, Chief Supt. Joel Goltiao, Gov. Isidro Zayco, Senior Supt. Mark Edison Belarma, Provincial Board members Enrique Miguel Lacson, Dr. Melvin Ibañez, Nehemias dela Cruz, several mayors, among others.
Felix said he will continue the good programs of his predecessor.
He said his first task would be "house fixing" where members of the Provincial Police will have to be in their proper places, uniforms, attitude and other important matters that will redound to the improvement of their performance as peace keepers.
Chief Supt. Cuevas said Negros is relatively peaceful and orderly. "It's a sound place for people to live and do business," he said referring to the entire province.
He congratulated Senior Supt. Franco for a job well done. "He did it well for 26 months as Provincial Director."
Franco also thanked the provincial officials and the people of Negros for the support given to him as their former Provincial Police Director.
"Negros will forever be remembered," he said.
Gov. Zayco urged Senior Supt. Felix to surpass the performance of Col. Franco and keep clean the image of the PNP.
"I commend Col. Franco for his significant contribution. Thanks for a job well done. I wish you well in your next assignment," Zayco said.
Felix is a PMA Class 1983.
