City legal officer to send fertilizer scam docus to Congress
BACOLOD CITY -- City Legal Officer Atty. Allan Zamora said he will furnish Congress with his personal files pertaining to the controversial fertilizer fund scam next week.
"It means both houses of Congress, the Senate and House of Representatives, can now access the Bacolod files of the scam," Zamora said.
The files comprise documents that were presented before the Office of the Ombudsman when Zamora filed graft charges against Bacolod Lone District Congressman Monico Puentevella whom he claimed to have received a total of P8 million based on Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Special Allotment Release Order.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia has instructed the Legal Officer to furnish the congress of city's documents so that, in one way or the other, they can help the legislators on their probe.
Instruction to conduct price comparison was also relayed to City Agriculture's Office head Atty. Goldwyn Nifras.
Nifras reported that their office only received 1,167 liters of liquid fertilizer from the congressional office.
As per canvass conducted few days ago by City Agriculture's Office, the price ranged from P1,200 to P2,000 per bottle or not more P233,400 versus P8 million received by Puentevella.
"We have the complete list of beneficiaries backed with corresponding signatures," Nifras added.
Cong. Puentevella on other hand still remains silent on the issue as he promised to answer everything when Congress finishes its investigation.
