IDFI targets P13M donations for Dinagyan 2009
The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) is targeting P13 million donations to fund the 2009 festival. The foundation has already sent letters to the prospective sponsors. None has yet to respond.
IDFI Vice Chairman Ricardo Andrada said they are hoping to collect P13 million donations with few months left before the final activity. The P13 million already include the P3 million subsidy from the city government.
Andrada said they are working double time as it suffered a snag with the delay in the signing of the memorandum of agreement between the city government and the foundation. The foundation has started the ground work for the success of the festival. "We are moving forward but in a low profile," Andrada said.
The different committees under the foundation were only given the authority to start the different works relative to their committee only Tuesday. In yesterday's press briefing the plans for the launching of the Dinagyang festival has yet to be finalized though they already have initial plans.
The Dinagyang 2009 will be launched on Monday afternoon (Dec. 1) at the SM City Activity Center after a motorcade from the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand. Drummers from five participating tribes will join the motorcade and another one tribe will perform at the activity center. The traffic route for Monday's launching has yet to be finalized.
Meanwhile, Andrada said former IDFI executive director Ben Jimena will only speak on concerns of the activity when it is related to the city government. The members of the foundation will take of the entire affair.
The question on whether Jimena would be allowed to speak in behalf of the foundation was raised after the media find a hard time on who to interview regarding the activity. Jimena was very accessible to the press during his tenure as IDFI executive director.
The IDFI vice chair said the matters on the availability of the respective committee heads are already resolved with the issuance of an order for the mobilization of the committee last Tuesday.
