Western Visayas remains bird flu-free
This holiday season, chicken and other poultry products are safe to be consumed as Western Visayas and the rest of the country are still free from the threats of the avian influenza virus.
This was disclosed by Dr. Jonic Natividad, Regional Verinary Quarantine Officer of the Department of Agriculture, Region 6 during the PIA-Cable Television program, recently.
"We are happy to report that the country is free from bird flu virus and here in our region, all the blood samples collected from identified areas when examined in the laboratory have negative results," Natividad said.
Dr. Natividad said that the Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the local government units in the region are working closely to rise up to the challenge of informing and educating the people about bird flu virus and the ways to avoid it.
The regional veterinary quarantine officer urged the public to be vigilant all the time. (PIA 6/T.Villavert)
