A day with Miladay
TNT’s Mitzi and Lyn Gamboa.
Everyone was "just looking", but deep in their hearts, they knew they've always wanted to own an exquisite piece of Miladay Jewelry.
Lyn B. Gamboa sent out invitations to view the exclusive exhibition of the "Marqueza Collection", one of the stunning pieces brought by the owners of Miladay Jewels to Bacolod last November 27, 2008. The Don Ricardo Room of the L'Fisher Hotel was transformed into a jewelry store, except that this one had food and cocktails.
As I walked inside, there she was, none other than Lyn Gamboa, greeting me with her famous grin. I almost missed the wide grin because my eyes were drawn to her necklace, the same piece pictured on the invitation, and the same piece that was on the life-sized tarpaulin situated at the lobby of the hotel. She was modeling the Marqueza Collection, and the lady knew how to wear her bling-blings well.

Started by Mila Salgado Dayrit, Miladay is now run by her children, who have successfully continued their mother's dream. What started in the garage of their home in Bel-Air Village in Makati became a growing enterprise, and has now turned into a legacy. All five children have created unique showcases for their company such as the "Jaqui O line" by Jacqueline Dayrit-Boncan, the Michelle Marie collection by Michelle Dayrit-Soliven, the men's collection called "Mark of Miladay" by Mark Dayrit, the "Rendezvous Travel Collections" by Christine Dayrit, and "Keepsakes of Gold" by Yvonne Dayrit-Romualdez.
Traveling to Bacolod with the Marqueza Collection were four of five siblings: Michelle, Mark, Christine, and Yvonne. As Negrenses slowly crowded the glass displays, all four were busy entertaining queries from everyone.

So what makes the Marqueza Collection different? It's an illusion of one stone, yet at closer glance, it's a merger of small stones intricately set in gold. It's a unique play of stones, like marquise and princess cut, which can only be done by the skilled hands that Miladay is known for.
There were other collections that were displayed such as pearls and colored stones. It was a chance to see some of the pieces that one would see at the Miladay stores in Manila. Some of those spotted "just looking" were Heny Escay, Virgie Lopue, Salou Keuls, Gia Locsin, and Elda Mondia, among others. More were coming in to enjoy the collections that were on display until early evening. Surely, some were happy, because they went home with a piece of Miladay.
