Advance booking for Pacquiao on grand inauguration of NGC
Bacolod City - Mayor Evelio Leonardia confirmed yesterday that the most renowned boxing icon Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao will be the guest of Honor once the grand inaguration for the New Government Center (NGC) happens in February 2009.
Leonardia who just arrived in Bacolod City yesterday from the just concluded Pacman-De La Hoya Fight in Las Vegas, Nevada, said that during the last visit of Manny Pacquiao at the New Government Center last August this year, it was him, the People's Champ himself who confirmed his presence on said inaguration.
Mayor Leonardia met yesterday afternoon with City Administrator Dr. Roger Balo for the physical inventories of all the furnitures and fixtures delivered at the New Government Center. He also confirmed yesterday that there will be a partial transfer of some departments from the old city hall to there new home scheduled on December 16, 2008.
Leonardia further said that the Permit and License Division will remain for the meantime at the NGC because next month of January 2009, there will be a huge number of businessmen and taxpayers that will trooped at the Bay Center as "One Stop Shop" for the renewal of their business permits and license.
In a pressconference,Leonardia gave his update on what transpired during his trip at Las Vegas, Nevada. He denied reports that he was late during the fight because he was not seen on tv. He said that he was one among the five belt bearers before the "Dream Match" of Pacman-De La Hoya started. Leonardia did not elaborate if Pacquiao has plans to visit Bacolod City after he celebrates his Birthday in General Santos City.
