City's P286M budget for 2009 approved
ROXAS CITY – Some P286,275,706.09 budget for the year 2009 was approved during last week's regular session of the city government here.
Of the P 286,275,706.09; P 144,493,376.19 will be spent for personnel services representing 50.50%; P68,755,246.00- maintenance and operating expenses- 24%; P4,200,353.34, debt service (Loan Amortization of LBP Equipment Loan) and documentary stamp – 1.5%; P8,990,000.00 – capital outlay (non-office) – 3.10%; P44,825,945.31- development fund – 15.66%; and P15,025,785.31 – other purposes (calamity fund and aid to barangays), 5.25%. a total of 100 %.
The said budget will be sourced from the certified statement of realizable income from the local sources: A. Tax revenue, P 58,090,000; Permit, Fees and Licenses, P 8,735,000; Business and Service Income, P 6,697,129.09;
B. External Sources: IRA (Estimate 2009), P165,303,780.00; IRA Difference (2001 – 2004) installment), P 2,623,851.00 as net for available appropriation.
Economic enterprise: Market (TATC), P 10,520,000; Fishing Port (LFP), P2,754,440; and slaughterhouse, P1,066,000; a total of P255,790,200.89.
The said appropriation ordinance was sponsored by City Councilor Dennis Altobano, chair of committee on appropriation.
Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas criticized the said appropriation and overspending considering that it indicated the deficit figures from sources of funds to distribution of funds.
Dadivas also said that the budget of the chief executive for 2009 increased compared to 2008 in the amount of P 17,618,200 representing 52.08%.
Meanwhile, Altobano cannot be reached for comment as to Dadivas's criticism on the approved 2009 budget.
