DILG recognizes NegOcc as 'Best Performing Province'
BACOLOD CITY -- Negros Occidental through the leadership of Governor Isidro Zayco garnered the award for Best Performing Province for this year's 'Pagdayaw' from Department of Interior and Local Government.
The province topped the three out of four categories namely: Administrative Governance; Environmental Protection and Economic Development while second to Guimaras province in Social Services category.
The awards were received by Executive Assistant IV Jonathan Lobaton and Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko at Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center, Wednesday afternoon.
Governor Zayco gives the emphasis on the cooperation of the various departments in doing their jobs as well as his fellow capitol officials likewise the support of the Negrense as a whole.
Other towns and cities in the province also excelled in various fields like the Kabankalan City for Best in Environmental Management and Best in Local Legislation; San Carlos City – Best in Administrative Governance and Best in Social Services; Bacolod City – Best in Economic Development; Municipality of Pulupandan – Best in Environmental Management and Municipality of Hinigaran for Best in Economic Development.
Meanwhile, as a reward to the province' victory the 2,159 Capitol employees will receive their extra cash gift of P25,000 each starting today.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental Wednesday approved the P57 million supplemental budget.
According to Vice Governor Emilio Yulo III, there was an increase of P5,000 compared to last year's extra cash gift of only P20,000.
The sources of funds for it were the Internal Revenue Allotment differentials and P43.3 million savings of the provincial government.
