OFW dependents receive livelihood assistance
Some thirty dependents of overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) received financial assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment Region 6, through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
DOLE 6 released P200-thousand to the two associations: New Washington Overseas Foreign Workers and Beneficiaries Association (NWOFW & BA) and Overseas Contract Workers & Beneficiaries Association de New Washington (OCW & BANW), when its caravan rolled into the Province of Aklan recently.
Shirley Pelayo, President of NWOFW & BA said she was very thankful to the DOLE-Aklan personnel for their help and support to the association especially in the preparation of documents.
"Grabe guid ang ila bulig kag suporta sa amon. Gina follow-up permi and status sang amon papeles," she said.
The association plans to market its produce in New Washington and, later, it will expand to Kalibo, which is the business center of Aklan.
Pelayo added that they will try to make the proposed business grow into a viable enterprise focusing on customers" satisfaction as main consideration in running the business.
