New NOPPO chief leads gun taping
BACOLOD CITY -- To free the province from any indiscriminate firing involving the police officers this Christmas and New Year's Eve, Provincial Director Senior Supt. Manuel Felix on Monday supervised the taping of the muzzles of guns issued to policemen.
The ceremonial taping was held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City which was also done simultaneously in 31 police stations and four provincial mobile group units in Negros Occidental.
"The law enforcers must be law-abiding and should set as example in implementing the laws of the country," Felix said.
Issued firearms to the 1,400 policemen in Negros Occidental were silent starting yesterday and anyone who will violate the regulation shall face the consequences.
"No one can escape from this policy since we are serious in implementing zero-incident involving illegal discharge of firearms of the PNP," he added.
Meanwhile, Felix assured the public that they are still on alert status despite of the ceasefire pronouncement of CPP-NPA.
"We are doing our functions 'as is' despite of that," he added.
The Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office on Saturday held their Christmas Party at the camp.
Felix said it was his first Christmas Party in the province as he assumed as the new provincial director replacing Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco last November.
He also extended his utmost thanks to the provincial officials led by Governor Isidro Zayco and the people of Negros Occidental as a whole for having him in the province, leading the police force.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia also attended the Christmas party.
