City gov’t has new administrator
ROXAS CITY – City government under the leadership of Mayor Vicente Bermejo has a new administrator in the person of Rey Cordenillo.
Cordenillo replaced former City Administrator Ronald Amigo after the latter resigned to enjoy his scholarship grant in Australia for 18 months taking up Master in Public Policy.
Amigo had his “despedida” last Tuesday night at Albar Beach Resort in Culasi attended by Bermejo, majority of members of the city council, as well as members of his family.
Cordenillo’s appointment as city administrator was effective January 2 this year and at the same time he will be the Supervising Administrative Officer under the office of the mayor.
Cordenillo, 38, is from Loctugan, Roxas City, attended his elementary at Loctugan Elementary School, secondary at Filamer Christian College and earned his degree AB Political Science at University of San Agustin and BS Computer Science at Dean Alberto Villaruz College.
Before his appointment as city administrator, Cordenillo has attended many trainings/seminars/workshop in different fields of specializations.
He had been project officer, Institute of Local Governance at Gerry Roxas Foundation on February 1996 – December 1998; Capiz participant in Special Strategic Organization Assessment Workshop, associate in Rural Development, Inc. Makati City on July 1996 – May 1997.
He was also Field Consultant, Municipal Visioning and Strategic Planning, University of San Agustin –Regional Center for Public Management on November 1995 – January 1998; Training Officer, PARTNERS Program, Gerry Roxas Foundation, November 1995 –January 1996; Training Assistant, Development Education Program, Gerry Roxas Foundation, May 1995 – October 1995.
Cordenillo was also Barangay Kagawad in Loctugan, Roxas City from July 1997 – May 15, 2002 and Acting Punong Barangay in the said place from May 16 , 2002 – July 15, 2002.
The new city administrator was also a consultant on GIS –Capiz, GIS Center from July 1, 2001 to February 1, 2004; Information System Analyst II from February 2, 2004 – June 17, 2007 and Project Development Officer IV from June 18, 2007 – April 15, 2008 at the Capiz provincial capitol.
He passed his Civil Service Professional Exam with the rating of 87.3 percent on March 26, 2003 at CSC ROG, Iloilo City.
He is the son of Vicente Cordenillo, Sr and Rosario Cordenillo. He is married to Lilian Baltero with whom he has three children namely: Randee James, Ramces John and Rennel Jude.
