Iloilo top cop links with media on arrest of suspect in killing of Ajuy vice mayor
Continued police manhunt of remaining suspects in the celebrated liquidation of an Iloilo town vice mayor has now gone back to linkages with the media.
In an attempt to hasten community support and seek tips from civilian informants, Senior Superintendent Ricardo Dela Paz sought help from the press.
In Butuan City, The News Today (TNT) learned that copies of arrest warrants and file photo of suspect Lindsay Buenavista were distributed to media organizations. A request was then made to have the photo published and arrest warrant reported following purported sighting of Buenavista.
Buenavista, a native of Barangay Merced, Banate, Iloilo has since been named as one of those behind the merciless killing of Vice Mayor Ramon Rojas Jr.
Dela Paz when reached by Bombo Radyo Iloilo confirmed the report while adding that sightings also included Iloilo City. Highly probable, Dela Paz added, that Buenavista could have indeed gone back to visit his family during the holidays.
Dela Paz is director of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO).
To note, Buenavista was alleged to be the “handler” of the vice mayor’s killers, purported triggerman Edgar Cordero and pal, Dennis Cartagena. He was also said to have been the link between the supposed mastermind.
Further still, Buenavista according to police, is the suspect behind the eventual killing of the named triggerman. Cordero was gunned down last year also in Butuan City.
