Capelco axes 3 employees for missing P2M 'collections'
PANITAN, Capiz – Three tellers or cashiers of Capiz Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Capelco) were dismissed from service by the general manager after they were found guilty of taking their daily collection in the amount of 2,022,295.58 from different area offices.
Capelco general manager Engr. Edgar Diaz identified the employees as Evangeline Dadivas, supervisor - cashiering division, Cristita Floteldis, assistant cashier, and Renee Bacaro, teller - cashiering division. Three are about to retire this year.
During the company audit, Diaz said that the employees were found conniving with each other to get the said remittances from the different area offices without validated deposit slips.
Based on the audit report Capelco's area office in Dao fell short by P631,650.53; Mambusao area office, P697,107.83; Dumalag area office, P368,220.97; and Pilar area office, P374,434.95 for a total of P2,071,414.28.
It was learned that during the audit an amount of P49,118.70 were recovered from the three.
The collection covers the period from October 17 - 22, 2008.
In a termination paper dated December 18, 2008, Diaz stated that three employees committed falsification, fraud, or willful breach of trust by the employee, misappropriation of coop funds for personal gain.
Diaz said that the separation benefits of the three dismissed employees amounting P3.7 million will be forfeited without prejudice to the filing of a criminal case before the court here.
In an interview, Diaz said that he always reminded the employees to follow the code of disciplinary action from the handbook distributed to each of them.
“It’s painful on my part to terminate them as they are already 34 years in Capelco however, they should be dismissed from service for their wrongdoings,” Diaz said.
