Pinay DH tags Hongkong top-cop boss in rape plaint
A 29 year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) is the latest to seek assistance of embassy officials in the Philippine Consulate in Hongkong reporting that she is a rape victim.
A first-timer OFW, the complainant hails from the Visayas and left behind a husband and one child here.
The report was first disclosed over Bombo Radyo Iloilo by a Hongkong-based Ilongga. Reached by The News Today (TNT) for update, said source revealed that the complaint was only made now after the 29 year-old OFW working as a family house help finally mustered the courage to report the alleged crime.
And there had been several instances of offenses of sexual assault allegedly inside her employer’s family home. The complainant, the source added, pointed to her boss, a top Hongkong Police official as her attacker.
“The victim arrived in Hongkong only last August,” the TNT source said. “Repeatedly she was raped by her employer, a high ranking officer of Hongkong police and since it involves a top officer, the case is now being handled by the elite Hongkong Island Crime Squad. She (referring to the complainant) has since been granted temporary shelter at the Foreign Workers’ Evacuation Center.”
TNT further gathered that one of the embassy Vice-Consuls was tasked to monitor the 29 year-old’s complaint. The employer-top cop, reports further stated, was able to give his side to authorities.
The Hongkong source also said the complainant chose to leave her employer’s home with no belongings in tow fearing that she will be accused of theft. All she had, TNT learned, was her Hongkong government-issued ID card. A fellow OFW who works in the same building tenement assisted her in reaching the Philippine Embassy.
This latest rape complaint if validated adds up to the controversies hounding the Hongkong Police Force.
Recent news wires reported of a Hong Kong police detective out to serve a seven-year jail term after being convicted of raping an 18-year-old girl. A member of the Crime squad, 33 year-old officer Choi Chai-him met the teenage victim over the internet and lured her to his home with the promise of downloading games onto her portable PlayStation games console.
Hongkong’s High Court, international news wires added, disclosed that the married policeman began molesting the victim and when she resisted, took her to his bedroom and raped her.
A jury on Monday found Choi guilty of rape by a majority verdict despite his claims of consensual sex.
In a separate case, a 29-year-old detective constable also in Hong Kong has been accused of sex attacks on four young women inside a police station in Mong Kok. He was arrested in December with charges of rape filed, the Hongkong Legal News posted,
