DOE says supply of LPG in Visayas remains normal
Supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Visayas, especially in key cities, has remained normal or within the inventory level, according to Energy director for Visayas Antonio Labios.
Labios said Visayas is fortunate because consumers here are not experiencing similar situation in Manila.
He said that there are no complaints of LPG shortage.
“In Visayas, based on our monitoring, we could still say that the (LPG supply) situation is normal,” he said.
Labios meantime attributed the increasing LPG prices to the increased demand of the product abroad.
“LPG is one of the major fuels for heating purposes, especially in Western countries. The demand there is high that’s why the price here increases,” he said.
Based on monitoring the price of an 11 kilogram cylinder tank sold in Iloilo is about P520, cheaper than the rate in Cebu.
Labios was in Iloilo Thursday for a consultation with power stakeholders over the proposed Visayas Supply Augmentation Auction (VSAA) program, a contingency measure to address power supply deficit in the Cebu-Negros and Panay grid. (PNA)
