Red Cross Youth, elects new chapter president
ROXAS CITY – The Philippine National Red Cross Youth-Capiz (PNRCY-Capiz), on February 7 this year, elects new set of Officers for 2009 during its Provincial Congress as inspired by the theme “bringing the youth to a higher level in serving humanity”, held at the Hall of Governors of the Capitol Building, this city.
In an interview, Gov. Lyn V. Garcia, National Red Cross Youth President, emphasized the three major programs and thrusts of the Red Cross Youth in consonance to the Red Cross international programs: 1. Advocacy on the International Humanitarian Law under Protocol II of the Geneva Covention; 2. Emphasis on mass blood donation , and; 3. HIV-AIDS awareness among the youth.
Garcia stressed that the success of the programs depends on the local initiative and aggressiveness to implement the chapter plans for 2009. “But I hope and believe for the success of these programs in Capiz, because as can be seen, the youth here are so active and the leaders are manifestly dedicated to Red Cross campaigns,” she added.
The Congress was graced by its keynote speaker Carlos Benigno S. Gallardo, Acting Manager of the PNRC with Mrs. Nelia Cartujano, PNRC-Capiz Administrator and two members of the Board of Directors, Mr. Mansueto Aguirre and this writer.
The success of the Congress was attributed to the leaderships of Capiz RC Youth Council Ayr Altavas and immediate Past President Andy Bryan A. Banate.
The new sets of officers are Marvin B. Balberona, President; Kenneth R. Dizon, Vice President; Kimberly Joy Duropan, Secretary, and; Richard John A. Agrida , Asst. Secretary; Mel Bryan E. Billones, Treasurer; Roque I. Leccio, Asst. Treasurer; Kenny A. Bajande, Auditor; Sharmaine G. Barrientos, Press Relation Officer, and; Elizabeth Claudine A. Villareal, Asst. P.R.O.
