Bacolod dad mulls Chicken Inasal Festival
BACOLOD CITY -- Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) Member Alex A. Paglumotan, chairman of the Committee on Market and Slaughterhouse, recently passed on second and final reading an ordinance establishing a yearly festivity to be known as the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival at the Manokan Country incorporating a special committee to be created and providing funds for its implementation.
Paglumotan along with SP Members Homer Bais, Roberto Rojas and Celia Flor believes that the Manokan Country in the City of Bacolod has been existing since the time of then Mayor Jose Y. Montalvo and since its establishment, the place has become one of the major centers of the city's tourism areas where the display of the real Ilonggo taste is one of the proven manifestations of the Bacoleños true identity.
The resolution also reads that before its evolution (Manokan Country), the chicken inasal is now becoming one of the country's fast-growing industry in the parlance of food business and it continuously brings the name of Bacolod even in Metro Manila.
Paglumotan also said that there must be a special committee created by the Local Chief Executive to discharge their function and responsibility. The committee will convene among themselves at least twice a month from January of each succeeding year to plan and establish the needed requirements including the actual date of the festival, but the duration of the festival date shall not exceed five days.
