DOH 6 goes all out for healthy lifestyle drive
The Department of Health Center for Health Development-Western Visayas will launch Healthy Lifestyle (HL) to the Max, and likewise open the 2009 CHD-WV sports fest on February 16, 2009.
The Healthy Lifestyle to the Max is part of the DOH “Fourmula” One Foundational campaign which will highlight priority programs geared towards the country’s attainment of its Millennium Development Goal targets, including the prevention of chronic diseases and the promotion of healthy lifestyle.
The sports fest on the other hand is part of the Healthy Lifestyle of the DOH 6 which will celebrate its golden anniversary on March 2009, said Dr Sophia Pulmones, OIC of the Local Health Systems Division of the DOH 6 during the recent presscon.
She noted that Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) are rising locally and in the whole country. The NCD are cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases or CVD and chronic obstructure pulmonary diseases or COPD.
The venue of launching of the HL to the max and the opening of the CHD WV 2009 sports fest will be at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
The HL to the max campaign has the following objectives: a) to raise people’s consciousness on the different risk factors for developing noncommunicable diseases; b) to motivate people to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle intervention programs; and c) to encourage politicians, media and other stakeholders to provide Filipinos with environments supportive of healthy lifestyle.
