Controversial skywalk nears completion
ROXAS CITY – The city's first ever skywalk located along Roxas Avenue already nears completion but controversies keep on hounding it. Recently, a concerned citizen, who requested anonymity, sent a text message to this writer informing that he/she will file a case against 1st District Rep. Antonio Del Rosario for having his name engraved on the gilder of the skywalk.
Del Rosario, when reached by the writer, merely shrugged off the threat. He said there’s nothing wrong in having his name etched on the gilder of skywalk. What is more important, he said, is that there is no corruption in its construction.
According to him, he is not like other politicians who are corrupt putting Capiz and Roxas City in bad light.
Del Rosario initially proposed three skywalks but he later reduced it into one as he realigned the budget to other priority projects.
Earlier, Del Rosario's political critic City Mayor Vicente Bermejo opposed the putting up of skywalks saying it is not a priority of the people of Roxas City and it covers the view of the city.
