Raul endorses Jerry
During the birthday of Boarding House Commission chair Edward Yee last Saturday, DOJ secretary Raul Gonzalez Sr. reportedly announced his endorsement of Mayor Jerry Treñas to run for congressman in next year's election. It was not yet known where incumbent Cong. Raul Jr. will go with his father's endorsement of Mayor Jerry for congressman. But definitely, a Gonzalez – whether it's Raul Sr., Pacita or Raul Jr. -- will run for the mayoralty post. With this development some political observers say that Vice Mayor Jed will be forced to establish his own group and run for mayor.
Villar graces Paraw Regatta
Sen. Manny Villar was the guest speaker in the highlight of the 37th Paraw Regatta Festival at Villa beach yesterday. Iloilo Paraw Regatta Foundation Inc. president Manny Villa said he personally invited Senator Villar to grace the festival being an Ilonggo. DOT regional director Edwin Trompeta then introduced the senator as “probably the next president of the Republic of the Philippines.” Whew! Politics is in the air!
Mansing and Lando
Ex-mayor Mansing and Ex-city councilor Lando are indeed the best of friends. They are always spotted together in coffee shops and in cozy watering holes in the city spending relaxing moments while talking about their political strategies for next year. Unlike Mansing's other friends, Lando has remained a buddy to him despite all the odds and even if Mansing is no longer in power. Lately, their prodigal friend Larry J is again establishing links with them considering the latter's plan to run for mayor next year. But Mansing has not readily committed to help Larry J. “Depende sa grupo,” he said.
