Bull's eye
Double standard
The eagerness of the City Engineers Office (CEO) personnel to immediately demolish the barangay hall of Brgy. Kasing-Kasing, Molo is quite surprising. There is a lot of similar structures in the city -- some barangay halls even sit right on the sidewalk -- that are simply ignored. Ironically, the Kasing-Kasing barangay hall sits on a private property, but is seems the CEO is giving it special attention. Nga-a ayhan?
Restoration responsibility
Over Z100's weekend talkshow “Kape Beynte-Beynte” recently, Engr. Guillergan of MIWD clarified that the restoration of areas they have dug for repair or maintenance works belong to the City Engineer's Office as their office pays the corresponding excavation and restoration fees in every job they undertake. Such clarification was a surprise as it is common public perception that MIWD is irresponsible when it comes to the restoration of their diggings. We are thus calling on the CEO to use the excavation and restoration fees paid to them for its intended purpose. There is a lot of roads or sidewalks in the city that are left unrestored to its original state after the MIWD made their diggings. Be responsible!
BFP under-equipped
The Bureau of Fire Protection lacks firefighting equipment. Aside from lack of fire trucks its firefighters (bumbero) lack firefighting gears which endanger their lives every time they respond to fire calls. It's summer season and it is expected that fire cases will be on the rise. We are wondering why the government is not giving so much attention to this very important government service arm. Countless properties and lives have been lost because of fires which are not immediately controlled due to lack of equipment. The BFP badly needs help not only from the government but also from the private sector.
