Zamora’s loss doesn't weaken Leonardia admin, says Petierre
BACOLOD CITY – Topnotch City Legal Officer Atty. Allan Zamora may be gone but this does not weaken the administration of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, says Atty. Vicente Petierre III in reaction to statements from the mayor's political rivals.
The newly-designated Acting City Legal Officer said all the lawyers comprising the office are all privy of the cases filed by and against the city so there's nothing to worry about.
Petierre said he considered Zamora as his big brother and he was shocked when he knew of his sudden death last week.
“He is a big loss to us and we were shocked to learn of his sudden death,” he said.
When asked about the criminal cases filed by Atty. Zamora against Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella involving the liquid fertilizer and overpriced computer package, Petierre said it will not be affected since it is now with the Office of the Ombudsman.
Councilor Dindo Ramos, on the other hand, echoed the sentiments of Petierre.
Ramos said the Leonardia administration is not dependent on only one person but on the collective efforts of the city officials and the people's support as well.
“Zamora’s big shoes are difficult to fill but no one is indispensable in this world,” he added.
Ramos said the late lawyer is the pride of his family and of the City of Bacolod and Negros Occidental as well as his colleagues from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said Zamora fought for the poor and the less privileged in society.
He was truly loyal to the city, not only to the public officials, he said, adding that he performed service over and above the call of duty.
Negros Occidental Gov. Isidro Zayco said he is extending his condolences to the family of Zamora.
Zamora’s remains were transferred from his house in Bago City to the Cosmopolitan Church in Malaspina Street, Bacolod City.
