WVRAA blends tourism, sports
ROXAS CITY – The on-going Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet promotes not only the camaraderie and sportsmanship among athletes and delegates but the local tourism industry as well.
This is manifested in the establishment of Capiz Tourist Information Booth and “Tiangge sa Palaro” within the premises of the historic Villareal Stadium here.
The tourist booth features Capiz tourism destinations and potentials in multi-media format for the reference of more than 1,000 WVRAA participants coming from six participating provinces in the region. It also offers updated Capiz tourism situationer and other tourism-related information in pamphlets and brochures.
Meanwhile, “Tiangge sa Palaro” is a pasalubong center that includes food stalls and sells souvenir items for the delegates and onlookers of the annual regional sports event.
During the WVRAA opening rites, Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. led the Capiceños in promoting the “Captivating Capiz” to the spectators that jampacked the province’s sports complex.
He also included in his message the recently concluded Regional Development Councils (RDC) of Region 6, 7 and 8 tourism assembly anchored on “One Visayas” theme.
The WVRAA will apparently benefit the local economy because of heightened business and trade activities brought about by the presence of delegates. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
