Palomar-Gardose fight reaches SB
TAPAZ, Capiz – After their heated confrontation at Marugo Resort in San Antonio here last week, businessman Roberto “Nonong” Palomar has brought his fight against Mayor Rosemarie Gardose at the Sangguniang Bayan (SB).
Palomar who was guest at the regular session of the SB last Monday questioned the mayor's spending of the P80 million Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) fund and on how she disposed some P100 million worth of town assets which according to him was not in accordance with rules and regulations of public auction.
“Kon gyera ang ginapangita nila ihatag ko sa ila (They want war, so be it),” Palomar said.
He said, Mayor Gardose is legalistic but her newly finished multi-million house in San Julian has no building permit adding that the mayor should be a role model.
Municipal Engineer Victor Jimenez admitted that there was no building permit but it is still on the process.
Meanwhile, Gardose merely laughed off the issues raised by Palomar.
Gardose, who is Palomar's 2nd cousin, said that the disposal of municipal assets has complete papers and was done with proper bidding.
She also clarified that her sisters, who work abroad, own the house Palomar is referring to in San Julian.
Last March 14, Gardose together with personnel from Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) provincial office disrupted the banca race organized by Palomar at his resort in Sitio Marugo, San Antonio this town.
Palomar questioned the move of the police and DENR to confiscate boats for not having a court order considering that the place was his private property.
Former PNP Chief Roberto Lastimoso, during the press conference in Baybay, Roxas City, said that the local government unit should not block Palomar's project which is meant to develop tourist attraction in their town.
On the other hand, Gardose clarified that she was only doing her job as mayor since the said competition has no permit.
Gardose and Palomar vowed to file appropriate charges against each other in connection with their heated confrontation last week.
