Four 'cattle rustlers' charged
The Anilao police recently filed cattle rustling charges against four suspects, two of whom were arrested in a police operation in Mandurriao district here last Friday while the other two remain at-large.
Chief Inspector Orly Gabinete, chief of the Mandurriao police station, said the Anilao police filed complaints for cattle rustling against Danilo Baron and Niño Jor who are both detained at the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center.
Still at-large are Vicente Jor and Ramon Chang. The latter is believed to be a leader of a syndicate that preys on cattle.
It was learned that Chang was also linked to several cattle rustling cases in the first district of Iloilo.
Gabinete said the Anilao police filed the case since the crime was committed in their jurisdiction.
The suspects were arrested in a police operation led by Gabinete Friday morning.
Gabinete said they caught the suspects with the stolen cattle in their possession. The suspects tried to evade the authorities but were eventually cornered by the police operatives. They failed to show credentials that would prove their ownership of the said cattle caught in their possession.
The two suspects have no record in Mandurriao police station prior to their arrest. However, the police believe Baron and Jor is part of a syndicate led by Ramon Chang of Pueblo Concepcion, Mandurriao that preys on cattle.
The city police have been alerted after series of cattle rustling cases happened in the different municipalities lately in the town of Leganes. Suspected cattle rustlers brought the stolen farm animals in the city to be slaughtered and made into money.
