Land dispute eyed in soldier's shooting
ROXAS CITY – Police eyed land dispute as the possible angle in the killing of an active member of the Philippine Army (PA) who was gunned downed Sunday afternoon here.
Roxas City police investigator told The News Today (TNT) that they are following land dispute as motive in the killing of Sgt. Danilo Billones, 43, of Sitio Iloilo, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Billones, who is assigned at Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz, was shot while riding his car by two motorcycle-riding suspects around 4:55 p.m last Sunday along Zamora-Legaspi Street here.
The soldier was with the company of Lilibeth Pedrita y Buhat, 48, who is the owner of theToyota Corolla car with plate no. UNY-317.
The army soldier sustained fatal gunshot wound on his head. He was rushed to the St. Anthony Hospital but declared dead on arrival by attending physician.
Police investigator said that Billones’ wife was charged earlier with frustrated murder as a result of a land dispute among relatives in Pontevedra town.
She went into hiding after the incident.
Meanwhile, authorities would soon come out with the cartographic sketch of the suspects as described by Billones' companion Pedrita, who is a lone witness in the shooting of the victim.
