‘Use good judgment, end now the violence, killings,’ AFP advises
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in an unsolicited advice asked the New People’s Army (NPA) to mark its 40th anniversary positively. And yes, violence-free too.
End the killings, harassments, extortion, abduction, rape “and all other human rights violations including killing in their own ranks.”
“The statistics in 2002 alone to present time here in Region VI have an overwhelming number of human rights violations committed and ordered by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP),” the AFP through Captain Lowen Gil Marquez said in a statement sent to The News Today (TNT). “We pray that our brothers and sister-NPAs will have a good judgment and discover that the real enemy and pestilence to our society is the CPP and not the people... not the government… the CPP is the main brain behind these human rights violation in the Philippines, specially here Western Visayas region.”
Captain Marquez is the Commanding Officer of the AFP’s 3rd Civil Relations Group.
“In Region 6, we have overwhelming political killings... all perpetuated and executed by the terrorist CPP by using “blinded” NPA members recruited from the proletariat, farmers and workers’ sectors,” the statement continued. “Our appeal to them – you were put by (CPP founder) Jose Maria Sison in the wrong path. They should not listen and adhere to Sison’s order of extortion, salvaging, political killings, abduction to celebrate the NPA anniversary. They should have a religious mass service instead to thank God and for Spiritual guidance to know what is good or bad in serving the Filipino people.”
AFP statistics disclosed a total of 42 victims of NPA killings here on Panay Island since 2002. The deaths included civilians believed by the NPAs to be military and government informants.
