Disposal of old furnitures up to the mayor
BACOLOD CITY -- Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson yesterday said that the City Administrator's Office has not yet submitted the physical inventory of all furnitures and equipment from the old City Hall although 95 percent of the offices have already transferred to the New Government Center including the City Mayor's Office and all administrative offices.
Sayson is now awaiting the decision of the Local Chief Executive on what to do with the furnitures that were left in the old building. "As of now there is no order from the Mayor on what to do with the old furnitures, but considering there are requests for transfer of some offices to the old city hall, most probably some of the furnitures will be used for some other purpose," Sayson said.
He further said that as the City Administrator's Office conducts an inventory of these furnitures, there are government offices wanting to acquire the office facilities by way of donation. Sayson mentioned the Department of Education (DepEd) which want to acquire some filing cabinets for their operations. Sayson is not amenable that these old furnitures will be disposed through public auction or to be sold since these facilities are much needed by some other departments experiencing shortage of office tables and other equipment.
On the other hand, Sayson did not elaborate yesterday the details on when the City Treasurer's Office and the Permit and License Division will transfer to the New Government Center considering that these two offices are still left in the old city hall along with the Management Information Technology and Computer System (MITCS), Land Tax and the City Assessors Office.
Sayson believes that these income generating offices will set to transfer after their effecient collection effort and the completion of their yearly reports. "It is hard for these offices to transfer right away since their computer system is utilized for collection purposes," Sayson clarified. He believes that once the computer set up is stopped, it will create major problems so it is impotant first to upgrade collection effeciency and completion of reports to avoid inconvenienc.
Sayson yesterday clarified that all vehicles used by the city officials and department heads will be parked at the New Government Center after office hours. He said that this must be followed considering that all these vehicles are in the name of our city officials who are now based at the New Government Center.
