BULL'S EYE
Regulate tarps
There is a need for the Sangguniang Panglungsod to pass an ordinance regulating the placement of streamers and tarpaulins in public plazas and other public places. It can be noticed that politicians, as well as those aspiring politicians, are now fond of placing streamers or tarpaulins with their faces on it in public plazas or just about anywhere with or without occasion. These practice destroys the beauty of our public plazas. It's also as if we're having the election all year round with those streamers and tarps, with politicians' faces, hanging everywhere. We hope somebody in the city council would consider our suggestion.
SWAT drinkers
Two members of the elite Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team were found drinking beer at a beer joint in Valeria Extension Friday night last week. The two, who looked young, were drinking with their SWAT t-shirt on and with handguns tucked in their legs. Apparently, the two were on duty as their detachment is located a few meters from their watering hole. Unfortunately, our informant was not able to identify the names of the two SWAT members. Chief Insp. Salvador Dagoon, head of the city's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, should remind his men, epecially the neophytes, not to drink in public places especially when they are on duty and they're still on their uniforms.
Beefing up ICPO
The Iloilo City government last week turned over P2 million worth of firearms and patrol cars to the Iloilo City Police Office to enhance its anti-criminality campaign. This is on top of the donations coming from private organizations and businessmen in the city who wanted to help the sorry state of our policemen. With this development we expect our policemen to be active in their role to protect and serve the city's populace.
