NEGRENSE WAY
One starry night
SSA Juniors 2009.
Oh, the joys of high school. The friends we’ve met and the best friends we’ve gained, the laughter we shared and cherished, the tests we passed or failed, the heartaches we cried over and laughed later on, the teachers we loved (or hated!), and the boys we swooned over or despised. Everything was considered memorable. Truly, high school is one of the most recalled years in anyone’s life because we always go back to the time that marked our “growing up” years and talk about the unforgettable experiences we went through. Surely, years from now, the Juniors 2009 of St. Scholastica’s Academy - Bacolod will be going back to one night in Bacolod, particularly February 28, 2009 - the night of the long awaited Junior Prom at the L’Fisher Hotel.

Entitled “Star Struck”, the hotel’s grand ballroom was aglow with stars-- from the stage, dance floor, tabletop decors, and even to the invitations, which were drizzled with stars. The real stars of the night were the 113 ladies who all marched with their well-suited escorts. Contrasting the shade of silver of the entire ballroom was the rainbow of colors from the young ladies’ gowns, complemented by matching ribbons on their floral wristlets. Rene Hinojales, the evening’s emcee, introduced each and every star, and made sure that the program of events was in order. Ms Ching Guanzon, choreographed the cotillion, a tradition in every SSA prom. Adding spark to the ballroom were the excited glows in all the young ladies’ faces, as they danced and partied on till the wee hours of the morning.
One of the evening’s highlights was the casting of votes by the Juniors to choose twelve princesses. The winners were: Bela Jaeger, Jamille Concel, Patricia Yulo, Krishia Mae Brillantes, Maika Mora, Nicole Sichon, Nina Tinsay, Isa Martin, Ella Regalado, Debra Randall, Mariana Sarrosa, and Katherine Bautista. It was a difficult decision because everyone was a princess that night.
Kudos to Nining Tinsay and Carleen Lopez for heading the Parent Committee and helping the students organize the prom. It was indeed one starry night in Bacolod and they were all at the L’Fisher Hotel.
