Felisa village chief refuses P1-M aid
BACOLOD CITY -- Felisa Village Chief Perigrino Aspan has requested the Sangguniang Panlungsod to defer the proposed Ordinance setting aside the P1 million for Felisa being the host barangay of the city's waste disposal facility.
Aspan in his letter to the SP dated April 6, 2009 stated his refusal to accept that his barangay is the host of the City's Waste Facility.
Councilor Greg Gasataya is the proponent of the said Ordinance which was passed on 2nd reading.
He said it needs further consultation and public hearing.
He said the Barangay Felisa officials were surprised to know of the said ordinance and likewise, they have not received any notice nor invitation for a public hearing regarding the matter.
"We wish to further inform you members of the Sangguniang that we are firm on our stand that Barangay Felisa is opposing the plan of the City for Felisa to be the host barangay for the new Waste Disposal Facility, notwithstanding the pending case we filed against the city before the Ombudsman for Environment. Likewise the recent findings of the Environment & Management Bureau and the Geo-Sciences & Mines and Bureau of the DENR, Region 6, that Felisa is not suitable for sanitary landfill facility.
