‘Buy Capiz-made products,’ entrepreneurs tell Capiznons
ROXAS CITY – This year’s “Capiztahan,” the two-year old festival of Capiz designed to commemorate the foundation of its civil government back on April 15, 1901, saw the active participation of the business and private sectors.
Their combined forces and resources of the Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council (PSMEDC) and Capiz Visitors and Convention Bureau (CVCB) supported by the provincial government resulted in the putting up of the “Tiangge/Kusina sa Parke” that became one of the major highlights of the April 113-15, 2009 celebration.
The crafts and food fair at the Provincial Park was spiced up by “Tunog Capiznon,” a live band entertainment featuring Hiligaynon reggae and other pop music genres.
Organizers of the activity said it was one way of promoting local micro, small and medium enterprises and their products. They added that by buying locally made products, Capiznons are helping the local economy.
The activity jives with the present twin campaigns of President Arroyo on “Invest in the Philippines” and “Buy Filipino,” which were conceived to help the country cope with the current global economic downturn.
A civil government was established in Capiz 108 years ago by virtue of Act No. 115, which also gave birth to similar government units throughout the country including Iloilo (April 11, 1901). (PIA-JSC)
