Panlilio, Padaca deny reported tandem in 2010
Governors Eddie Panlilio of Pampanga and Grace Padaca of Isabela denied Saturday that they are planning to run in tandem in the 2010 presidentialz elections.
Panlilio said the Movement for Good Governance (MGG) is actually still looking for a candidate "who is willing to give up everything" and "sacrifice all for the country."
The priest-turned-governor said that while he is open to suggestion for him to run for president, there are still better candidates being considered by the movement. Among the personalities are Chief Justice Reynato Puno, Sen. Mar Roxas, and evangelists Eddie Villanueva and Mike Velarde.
Panlilio said he and the two evangelists and other MGG convenors were still in the process of selecting the rightful candidate for the 2010 elections.
Padaca, for her part, said there were still no formal talks about the possibility of her running in the vice-presidential race under the Liberal Party ticket. She said the party will meet next week to decide who between her and Sen. Francis Pangilinan should run with Roxas.
The Isabela governor, meanwhile, urged the youth to not just vote, but also become volunteers.
"I call the youth to be a volunteer... Don't just vote, be a volunteer to watch your votes in 2010," she said.
The two governors have been going around the country as part of their group's crusade to promote good governance.
Last month, running priest Robert Reyes launched a group called Panlilio-Padaca Para sa Pagbabago (PPPP).
Reyes said the group is urging the two governors to run for president and vice president. He said the two can help restore dignity to public service by stamping out corruption in government. ABS-CBN News
