Tourism Bill now with PGMA
Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said Sunday that the Tourism Bill 2009 has finally reached President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and that she is expected to sign it soon.
He said he was informed by the Department of Tourism (DOT) only last Friday that the legislative measure had been transmitted to the Palace.
“I can assure the industry and all its stakeholders that the bill will be signed very soon,” Remonde said in a radio interview yesterday.
“This is good news for all stakeholders in the tourism industry,” he added.
Remonde also thanked the various stakeholders in the tourism sector particularly taxi-drivers, hotel chambermaids, tourist guides and others for their role in making the Philippines among the preferred tourist destinations in Asia.
He likewise hailed the efforts of the President and Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano in marketing the Philippines as a haven for both local and foreign tourists. (PNA)
