10 wheelchair recipients presented to media
BACOLOD CITY -- Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. with wheelchair donor Jocelyn Lantron presented to the media yesterday 10 beneficiaries from the different barangays of the city.
Leonardia thanked Lantron for her generosity in donating the wheel chairs and presented her a plaque of appreciation in a simple rite at the lobby of the New Government Center.
The mayor assured Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) of his continued support to their cause.
Lantron, for her part, expressed elation that the items have already reached the beneficiaries as she pledged to continue to look for ways to serve the people of Bacolod in her capacity as a charity representative.
Councilor Wilson Gamboa, meanwhile, also assured PWDs that his office will strengthen ties with Lantron’s office and explore further assistance available for the marginalized sector of the city.
DSSD OIC-Chief Sally Abelarde identified the following beneficiaries as Danilo Diaz, Radje Regula, Nicanor Roma, Eulalia Ibañez, Delia Garcia, Mansueto Asis, Girlie Pangadlo, Eugene Mark Leones, Adelina Panaligan and Mary Grace Jabagat.
Lantron, who is also the Executive Director of Global Placement Provider, runs an agency in London that allows her to recruit volunteers in the Philippines for nursing homes in the United Kingdom.
Six applicants have already been deployed to UK early this year as more applicants await their visas to leave the country. Lantron is in Bacolod to follow up applicants due for deployment and receive applications.
She said volunteers who maintain good performance are eventually hired by the institution or they may opt to look for employers outside the nursing home as they are permitted to look for part-time jobs. (PIA-LOL)
