A more peaceful Capiz sought
ROXAS CITY – The provincial government of Capiz is updating its Integrated Area Community Public Safety Plan (IACPSP) to enable the Provincial Peace and Order Council to make appropriate programs, projects and activities that would make the province more peaceful and a better place to live in.
Gov. Victor Tanco already has reorganized the council by virtue of an executive order he issued early this year.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), which acts as secretariat to the council, initiated in the latest meeting of the council held April 21 a workshop to come up with the integrated plan.
As agreed upon by the council, the workshop will be continued in another session to enable the council to focus on the plan.
Tanco reorganized the local council pursuant to President Arroyo’s Executive Order No. 773 dated January 5, 2009, which mandates the further reorganization of peace and order councils in the country.
President Arroyo’s directive primarily aims to put an end to the disruption and violation of human rights by the various terrorist and similar criminal and lawless elements as well as enhance peace and order in general for the nation to move ahead.
Capiz has been considered as one of the most peaceful provinces in the country. It is the headquarters of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, located at Camp Peralta in Jamindan town, which is about 60 kilometers from here. (PIA)
