Pacquiao-Hatton fight to be shown free in city gyms
For the first time residents of Iloilo City can watch live the much-awaited boxing match between people's champ Manny “The Pacman” Pacquiao and Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton of England for free on big screen to be installed at three gymnasiums in the city this coming Sunday.
The boxing fight will be shown live in the gymnasiums of Jaro, Arevalo and Molo districts through a cable company, said Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Treñas said there will be no entrance charges for those who want to see the boxing fight. They only have to bring their snacks in coming to the gymnasiums.
The contract which cost P200,000 was inked by the city with cable firm SkyCable. The city has yet to pay them, said Treñas.
The three gymnasiums will be open to the public as early as 7 a.m.
Treñas said the free live showing of the boxing match would be a big help as most people could not afford to pay extra charges in order to watch the boxing match in real time as it happens in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Several establishments in the city have offered live showing of the fight but with fees or the customers have to buy their food in order to watch on the big screen.
Meanwhile, Treñas said he will check in the contract whether it is stipulated that media coverage is prohibited in the three gymnasiums before the fight.
