Zayco inks MOA with over 100 provincial scholars
Gov. Isidro P. Zayco yesterday signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with over 100 Negros Occidental Scholarship Program grantees at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City, yesterday.
The scholars belong to different scholarship categories such as District Educational Scholarship, Pagka-on Scholarship, Negros Occidental Provincial Medical and Nursing Scholarship (NOPMaNS), Vocational/Technical Scholarship, and Provincial Educational Assistance for Capitol Employees (PEACE).
These scholarships are granted to incoming college students coming from the different cities and municipalities of the province who passed the screening, exams and interviews spearheaded by the scholarship committee.
Prior to the signing ceremony yesterday was the launching of “Grow-a-Tree Project” at the Organic Farm at the back of the Provincial Capitol where incoming scholars and their parents planted seedlings together with Board Members Mae Javellana (4th District) and Patrick Lacson (3rd District), Provincial Environment Management Officer Edwin Abanil and Provincial Human Resource Officer Virginia Parreño, who are all members of the Provincial Scholarship Committee.
Scholars who graduated with academic awards and honors and those who recently passed their board exams were also recognized and given medals and cash incentives by Gov. Zayco.
Cherrie D. Atilano, a grantee of the Pagka-on Scholarship Batch 2003 who was one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) Awardee in 2007, gave a testimony of her experience and privileges of being a provincial scholar and expressed her gratitude to the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.
Also present in the signing ceremony are Board Members Enrique Miguel Lacson (5th District) and Nehemias Dela Cruz (1st District), Provincial Information Officer Marlin P. Sanogal and Provincial Planning and Development Officer Merma Bayona. (Capitol News)
