‘Dante’ unleashes more rain, stronger winds Pag-Asa warns of cloudy, rainy Visayas
Tropical Storm “Dante” intensified its strength yesterday bringing in forecast of more rains and a cloudy Visayas region today.
While under no storm signal here, “Dante” as per latest severe weather bulletin placed eight provinces in Luzon under storm signal number 1 and Northern Samar in the Visayas. Catanduanes is under stronger storm signal number 2.
Based on estimates on satellite and surface data of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA), “Dante” has maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move North Northeast slowly.
”Cataduanes will have stormy weather with rough to very rough seas while the rest of Bicol Region, Masbate including Burias Island, Southern Quezon including Polillo Island and Northern Samar will experience rains and gusty winds which may trigger flashfloods and landslides and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough,” the PAG-ASA severe weather bulletin continued. “The rest of Southern Luzon, rest of Visayas and Western Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.”
As such a warning was out on all locals living in low lying and mountainous areas under storm signal 2 and 1 to be on alert against flashfloods and landslides.
