Ibrado vows to eliminate insurgency problem in 14 months
JAMINDAN, Capiz – Newly installed commanding general of the Philippines Army (PA) Lt. Gen. Victor S. Ibrado vowed here last Friday to eliminate the insurgency problems as ordered by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Ibrado made the pronouncement during the 35th Founding Anniversary of 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army (PA) here.
According to him, the PA will be added with another one battalion to combat the insurgency problems here.
Ibrado, who assumed office last week in lieu to Commanding Gen. Alexander Yano, said that the timetable of PGMA is from June this year to July 2010 for him to do what the president has directed him.
Asked about the status of the insurgency problem, he said that the CPP/NPA is now decreasing however, the national government will still put another one battalion in addition to its strength to combat lawless elements in the society.
“Insurgency is not merely a problem of the military but of all since the root of having it could be attributed of lack of services given to the people,” Ibrado said.
He added that the Local Government Units (LGUs), business sectors and other sectors should do their share to eliminate also the insurgency problems.

Sabolbora (INF) PA, best enlisted personnel CY-2008; Ms. Cherry Mae Buñe, best civilian employee CY-2008, and SCAA Reinier G. Maquinta NC-G06-000039, best special CAFGU active auxiliary.
Plaque of appreciation were given to: Mayor Ruben Melodia of Sta, Catalina, Negros Oriental; Mayor Ethel Jinon of Jamindan, Capiz; ASEC Raul Banias, PA of Western Visayas; Dir Zenaida Mabugat; Former Mayor Salvador Divinagracia of Calinog, Iloilo; Iloilo Police and Defense Press Corps and Negros Police and Defense Press Corps.
The said celebration was also attended by Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. and several others.
