Girl, 15, raped then strangled with vine
Police are searching for a young adult with previous criminal records, now considered the suspect in the killing of a 15-year-old lass whose body was found in a dumpsite in Leon town.
Leon deputy chief of police, SPO1 Eddie Calfoforo told The News Today yesterday that 21-year-old John Mark Cadornigara can no longer be found at his home in Brgy. Biri Sur.
Police tagged him as the probable suspect in the death of Maria Jacel Cainglet, whose half-naked body was found in the dumpsite of Brgy. Pandan Tuesday night, after a head cap was found in the scene. Witnesses identified the cap as that of Cadornigara, police said.
Calfoforo said that the suspect has had previous brushes with the law for alleged theft, robbery, and attempted rape.
Initial investigation of the body of Cainglet shows that she must have been sexually violated, Calfoforo said. She only had her shirt on when her body was discovered, he said.
But he stressed that they will submit the body to an autopsy to determine if indeed Cainglet was raped.
The perpetrator must have hit her in the head first to immobilize her, then raped the victim. Afterwards, the rapist strangled her with a vine, Calfoforo said.
