Mayor Zayco to help massacre victims' family
BACOLOD CITY -- The city government has committed to extend financial and burial assistance to the Florendo family who were ruthlessly massacred Monday night at Sitio Amian, Brgy. Tampalon, Kabankalan City.
Zayco said it was unfortunate on the part of the family since no suspects have been identified yet on the brutal killing.
Police records showed that two minors and a 24-year old were found dead with multiple hack and stab wounds.
Police Superintendent Calixto Mabugat, chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, reported that victim Elmer Lamera, half-brother of two minors aged 14 and 9, was found lifeless by their relative identified as Arnulfo Balasabas, 40, who reported the incident to the police station.
The nine-year old girl victim was brought to the Dr. Gumersendo Garcia Memorial Hospital in the city but was pronounced dead-on-arrival while the other two died on the spot.
There were no signs of robbery in their house when the police conducted the investigation. It was found out that the three victims were the only persons in the house when the incident happened since their father, Crispino Sr. went to Himamaylan City on Sunday.
Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix, NOPPO director, ordered the Kabankalan City Police Station chief to conduct a thorough investigation on the incident and to identify the perpetrators for the immediate filing of charges against the suspects.
Mayor Zayco on the other hand issued the same order to Police Superintendent Mabugat to give justice to the victims.
