PGMA graces RDC awards rite in Bacolod
BACOLOD CITY -- President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo arrives here today to grace the awarding rites of Regional Development Council's (RDC) Best Public Sector Projects Award to be held at New Government Center.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Governor Isidro Zayco said everything is set for the arrival of the president especially in terms of security measures.
As per briefing of the Presidential Management Staff and Presidential Security Group, Arroyo will arrive at around 1:30 p.m in New Bacolod-Silay Airport from Mindoro.
There will no longer be lunch with the officials who are here in the city, instead the president will take her lunch at the plane.
There is no other agenda lined-up for the president except to attend to the awarding rites.
Mayor Leonardia said the public should not expect any speech from Arroyo because as a matter of policy, she can render only one speech a day.
“If the president will deliver her speech to Mindoro’s affair, most probably only personal appearance will happen in Bacolod,” Leonardia said.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental Police Office Director Senior Supt. Manuel Felix said they have seen no problem so far in terms of security matters.
“We have close coordination with Supt. Leo Irwin Agpangan of Bacolod City Police Office to iron-out everything,” he added.
