Roxas City Day couples ‘tie the knot’
ROXAS CITY – The city government sponsored mass weeding has benefited at least 19 couples at a church wedding ceremony at the Roxas City Metropolitan Cathedral last May 12.
The mass wedding officiated by Capiz Archbishop Onesimo C. Gordoncillo and concelebrated with a team of priests was part of the 58th Roxas cityhood anniversary celebration with the theme “Sulong Roxas Sa Dalayon nga Pag-uswag.”
Roxas City Mayor Vicente Bermejo conveyed his sincere felicitation to the newly wed couples as he looks forward for more wedding anniversaries in “God’s grace” in his message after the nuptial rites.
Bermejo led all city government officials and department heads as wedding sponsors for the couples who also underwent an inter-agency marriage counseling seminar provided for them.
The pre-marriage counseling includes a package of discussions on Responsible Parenting Movement, Maternal and Child Health, Home Management, Family Planning and Marriage and Relationship, among others, said Roxas City Officer-In-Charge Population Officer Emperatriz Tañala.
The mass wedding, organized by Mayor Bermejo for city hall employees, was among the frontline social services and accomplishments that were showcased during the cityhood commemoration.
Other services included job fair, medical/dental check up, livelihood generation demonstration, dog castration, and livestock seminar, among others. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
