Police deletes robbery angle in Del Rosario aide's death
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Provincial Police Office (CPPO) has yet to pinpoint the suspects in the killing of Congressman Antonio Del Rosario's trusted man Art Cruz.
CPPO chief Sr. Supt. Josephus Angan, however, said that they are deleting the robbery angle in Cruz's killing as they go on with the investigation.
Angan appealed on radio recently for the witnesses to surface and reveal who are perpetrators.
The provincial director also said that Cruz personal belongings such as wallets and cellular phone were missing during the incident.
He said there is P300,000 reward for those who can point to the suspects as offered by 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario, Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. and City Mayor Vicente Bermejo.
He added that Task Force Art Cruz, which is tasked to investigate the killing, is aided by Scene of the Crime Operatives, (SOCO); National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Roxas City police and the Capiz PNP.
Cruz was gunned down by four suspects around 9:45 p.m. on May 7 along the Boulevard here. He sustained three gunshot wounds on the head and wrist.
Cruz was believed to have escaped from his attackers but was chased until he reached the rice field. He managed to return back to the road where he was found dead.
Recovered from the scene of incident were 2 slippers and Honda motorcycle owned by the victim.
The police is still following the personal motive angle in the killing considering that witnesses interviewed by dyOW Bombo Radyo revealed that the killers appear to be known to the victim.
Mrs. Jane Cruz, wife of the victim, admitted that before the killing of her husband, the victim told her that he received death threats from unknown persons.
