DOLE 6 needs 480 unemployed Nurses for 2nd batch of NARS Project
Some 480 unemployed nurses who are willing to be assigned in rural areas will be hired for the second batch of Nurses Assigned in Rural Service (NARS) Project of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Labor 6 Director Aida M. Estabillo announced that online registration for the second batch of NARS Project is now going on and training will start on October 1.
“We have the online application started this early to give unemployed nurses ample time to apply,” she said.
Estabillo said those who will be hired will be trained not only in providing basic health services to needy folks in rural areas, where medical services are mostly needed, but also in performing clinical functions under the guidance of participating hospitals in areas where the nurse-trainees will be assigned.
The nurse-trainees will be deployed at an average of five per town in 96 identified poorest municipalities in the Region and will be getting an allowance of P8,000 per month for a six-month tour of duty.
The NARS Project was launched by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during the Multi-Sectoral Summit against Global Crisis, last February, in line with the pump-priming strategies aimed at mitigating the effects of global economic slowdown through the creation of employment.
DOLE and its partner-agencies deployed a total of 408 nurse-trainees for the 1stbatch of the program – 72 in Aklan, 42 in Antique, 55 in Capiz, 14 in Guimaras, 138 in Iloilo and 87 in Negros Occidental. Their training will end on September 30.
Unemployed nurses who are physically and mentally fit and willing to serve in their hometowns and who meet the following requirements may qualify for the training under the NARS Program: a) with valid nurse license issued by the PRC, however, if PRC license is on process, applicant may present receipt issued by PRC as proof of pending application b) not over 35 years old, and c) resident of or living near the covered municipalities.
