Mrs. Roxas declares son's local allies in 2010 polls
TAPAZ, Capiz – Mrs. Judy Araneta Roxas, mother of Sen. Mar Roxas who plans to run for president next year, has unveiled Sunday here the political allies of his son.
Mrs. Roxas mentioned Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr., as reelectionist; former Philippine National Police chief Gen. Roberto "Bobby" Lastimoso, for 2nd district congressman; and Businessman Roberto "Nonong" Palomar for Tapaz mayor.
Mrs. Roxas said that she visited Tapaz town to ask people to support the presidential bid of his son Mar in next year's election.
She said that the Palomar family is close to their heart since "they are the loyal supporters of late President Manuel Roxas.
She congratulated Ms. Aurora Palomar, a private organizer of May Flower, for having organized the said festival for almost 14 years.
Mrs. Lani Mercado Revilla was also the guest speaker and one of the guest personalities who crowned and graced the May Flower Festival 2009.
Gov. Tanco, Sr. clarified that he was the only one who was declared by Mrs. Roxas to be the political ally of Sen. Roxas.
He said Gen. Lastimoso and Palomar are considered political allies of Sen. Mar Roxas but they are not yet members of the Liberal Party (LP).
Last Feb. 14, Mr. Emmanuel Billones, Sen. Roxas's trusted man, was the first to declare Gen. Lastimoso, Gov. Tanco and Palomar as the senator's bet in 2010 election.
Earlier, Lastimoso and Palomar announced their intention to run as congressman in the 2nd district and mayor of Tapaz, respectively.
