Dad wants clarification on planned P250M loan
ROXAS CITY – A member of the provincial board wants some clarifications on the plan of the provincial government to loan P250 million for the proposed Government Business Center to be constructed at San Roque Extension beside St, Anthony College Hospital.
Board Member Gilbert Ardivilla wants representatives from government financial institutions and the local finance committee to be present in the next regular session give clarifications on the said proposed loan.
Ardivilla in a privilege speech last week questioned the project since, he said, it was proposed but was not pushed through during the stint of Former Gov. Vicente Bermejo, now city mayor, in the amount of only P65 million while Gov. Tanco increased it into P250 million.
Ardivilla added that the project was canceled during that time because of the large amount to be deducted from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) of the project which will affect the basic services of the provincial government.
The proposed Government Business Center will cater to all national government offices which are currently renting on private buildings. .
Tanco said that some five banking institutions offered the provincial government to have loan for the said projects.
The governor also clarified that the P65 million project proposed by the previous administration is smaller than what he proposed now adding that the Boy Scout and the DILG building will be demolished.
He said that the building will start from the St. Anthony College Hospital going to Nesta’s Hilltop building.
“The price of the project is not necessarily exactly P250 million but it will depend on the size of the building to be constructed,” Tanco said.
