Palace orders Tupas to answer grave abuse, dereliction raps
The Office of the President in an Order issued a directive to Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas Sr. to answer the numerous complaints filed against him in Malacañang.
Docketed as Case No. 09-D-142, presidential counsel, lawyer Rowena Turingan- Sanchez signed the Order by authority of Malacañang’s Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs. Sanchez is Director IV of the Presidential Legal Affairs Office.
Governor Tupas was given 15 days to comply with the Order specified by Malacañang as a “verified answer” and not a Motion to Dismiss.
Complainant is Vice Governor Rolex Suplico with the charges ranging from grave abuse of authority, grave misconduct in office, culpable violation of the Constitution and dereliction of duty.
The News Today (TNT) learned that the latest round of complaints against the governor stemmed from his Executive Orders (EOs) relative to budget matters in the Capitol.
Specifics on the case were not divulged however sources said the governor’s suspension was also sought pending investigation.
Vice Governor Suplico sought Presidential redress in a letter-complaint sent to Malacañang last February.
