Sikat Academy begins future stars
Parents, titas and lolas on the audience seats couldn’t be happier seeing their little boys and girls warmly applauded numbers after numbers.
The first Sikat Academy on Air of ABS-CBN Iloilo, one of this year’s biggest and brightest summer workshops in the city, has just culminated recently in a ‘Grand Finale’ putting all its graduate talents in center stage.
It was a consecutive two-day graduation of more than 200 students who enrolled in the Academy and spent their summer honing their star potentials.
The fruits of the four week workshop on singing, dancing, hosting, acting and many more were fascinatingly seen in the students who performed smart and active before their proud teachers and their delighted parents.
Beltin’ and Groovin’
The aura of the two-day closing program was made colorful by the song and dance numbers inspired by Disney movies like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid. Kids belted it out as they sang Ariel’s ‘Part of Your World’ and ‘Lion King’s ‘Circle of Life’ which were of course matched with their vibrant wardrobes.
Aside from the melodious numbers, other kids from the Academy swayed the crowds with their dances of theatrical ‘Be my Guest’, Lilo and Stitch and High School Musical.
The children were also taught news casting and hosting as they recalled the Sikat Academy trainings via news reporting. Kids exuded the makings of future broadcasters, as if reporting on the actual field.
Truly an avenue of discovering future child stars, Sikat Academy also unveiled their talents who performed some stints of the ABS-CBN’s kiddie comedy show Goin’ Bulilit. Little comedians also acted out segments of Wowowee quiz show showcasing classic jokes in a kid’s humor. Fact is, four graduates from the academy were chosen to be in the ABS-CBN’s Maalaala Mo Kaya announced during the graduation.
The Grand Finale was a rendezvous of confidence and talents for the kids and a pleasure for the teachers and parents. Turned out successful, Sikat Academy pioneer Atty. Joebert Peñaflorida promised a second workshop next year.
